01. Consultation and free in-home estimate

Estimates are made 3-4 weeks prior to the moving date, and our overseas moving specialists will visit your home to provide general information on your move, including pre-packing preparation, schedules for countries of transportation, and information on local customs clearance.
There are various factors that affect the price of overseas moving, such as the amount of goods, destination, and means of transportation. Due to these complexities, it is very difficult to provide an accurate cost estimate.
However, at Kokusai Express, we always select our overseas moving routes from the customer’s point of view, and we are always consider customer satisfaction, especially in terms of price.

02 Packing operation

Ensuring the classification of your belongings is the most important aspect of the move.
Classify your belongings to be left at home, to be stored (in a trunk room), to be forwarded (to a domestic destination), to be disposed of (for a fee) or to be left at home. For items that cannot be handled as moving baggage, such as precious metals, securities, cash, and hazardous materials, you will need to consider a different shipping method.
If you wish to pack yourself, we will send you packing materials in advance.
*Please write your name, destination, and case number (use a uniform number starting from 1) on the front and side of the case.
*Please make a list of your cargo as we will need a detailed description of the contents in order to arrange import/export customs clearance and transportation insurance.

03 Domestic transport / container work / export customs clearance

Our staff will perform export customs clearance procedures on your behalf.
After confirming that the cargo has been delivered to the bonded warehouse of Kokusai Express, export customs clearance will be carried out.
Documents required when applying for export customs clearance in Japan
*Photocopy of your passport (Please make sure that the photo is clearly visible on the page with the photo only)
*Certificate of boarding (reservation) for the passenger issued by the airline company
*Packing list : We will prepare this when packing.
*Insurance Value List : Price list for insurance (only for those who have requested transportation insurance)
*Shipper’s Information: Destination information (Flight Info. when departing Japan, destination address, contact information, billing address, etc.)
*Invoice
*Customs Clearance Power of Attorney
We do not accept the following shipments
*Narcotics, methamphetamines, and smoking devises, poppy and marijuana seeds, and poisons
*Swords, pistols, imitation pistols, weapons, ammunition, explosives, dangerous goods (sprays, matches, benzene, thinner, oxidizers, etc.)
*Counterfeit, altered or imitation currency, bonds and securities
*Letters, pornographic products (magazines, videotapes, photographs, etc.)
*Trademark, patent, copyright, and other rights-infringing goods
*Washington Convention items, plants (with soil) and seeds
*Medicines, dairy products, meats, perishables
*Precious metals and jewelry
*Precision machinery, such as personal computers, etc.
*Musical instruments.

04 Shipping / Sea freight

Customs-cleared shipments will be transported by sea according to the pre-booked vessel schedule to the destination country.

05 Arrival at destination / Customs clearance

When the ship arrives, the cargo is unloaded from the container and stored in a bonded warehouse.
We submit customs clearance documents to customs and clear customs on your behalf.
When applying for import clearance in each country

*To declare baggage as moving baggage, you will be required to declare customs clearance and receive permission to carry it in.
